NATIONAL TREASURES
9:30-11:30 - William Bruce Adair
Frame conservator, historian, and master gilder William Adair will present his seminar “National Treasures,” which focuses on America’s most important frames. Go back in time as he highlights some of our national treasures as well as how we came to acquire them, where they are located, and the fascinating stories behind each of them. Whether their significance is political, symbolic, or one of a kind, you’ll see how these frames come to life and tell their stories. Join William on this entertaining journey through history as he uncovers our national treasures.

MUSEUM CONSERVATION CENTER PRESENTATION
12:45-1:25 - Barbara Conner
Museum insiders know that working at a museum presents exciting projects that involve complex materials and interesting backstories. We’ll share the detective work and discoveries which fuel our passion for art and science, which is where art conservation lives. Learn a few tricks of our trade:
   • How we distinguish a painting from a print
   • Avoiding disaster: the right time to stop, look, and call us for advice
   • Benefits of the circle of conservation

We’ll also tour the museum annex and visible storage area, and follow on with a self-guided tour through the Senator John Heinz History Center.
